Supervision
I offer mindfulness-based supervision for trainee and practicing teachers who offer 8-week courses, shorter mindfulness courses, talks, or drop-in sessions.
I'm particularly keen to support:
-
teachers looking to increase Diversity, Equity, and Neuro-inclusion (*)
-
trainee teachers who are feeling nervous about starting out
-
teachers who feel they've lost their way and want to reconnect with teaching
(*) I welcome both non-neurodivergent and neurodivergent teachers, including those who self-identify. Traditional mindfulness teaching methods might not resonate with, or fully support neurodivergent individuals/course participants. My supervision supports you in adapting these methods, fostering a learning environment that is inclusive and supportive.
Supervision, as defined by the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA), is “a regular space that is contracted between supervisor and supervisee which enables reflection on the supervisee’s mindfulness-based teaching, facilitates development, and considers how teaching interfaces with their personal mindfulness practice and life. The process is dedicated to developing integrity and safety and deepening understanding and effectiveness of the supervisee’s application of mindfulness, both personally and in their working life.”
Supervision is set in a framework of adherence to Good Practice Guidelines as stipulated by BAMBA. They can be accessed here: https://bamba.org.uk/teachers/good-practice-guidelines/. I adhere to these guidelines and I expect all my supervisees do, too.
I have completed supervision training with The Mindfulness Network/Bangor University and I am experienced in working with the MBI:TAC teacher assessment criteria.
My specialisms are:
-
MBSR for the general public
-
Neuro-affirmative mindfulness
-
DEI-informed mindfulness
-
Group work and 1:1 mindfulness
As your supervisor, I will offer mentoring, guidance, and support. The content of our sessions depends on your specific aims and objectives but is likely to include: Development of personal practice, preparing for teaching, refining teaching skills (including inquiry and group process), and developing reflective practice. The supervision process will not incorporate personal counselling or clinical supervision. We may discuss the application of mindfulness in any clinical work you do, but you need to have a separate clinical supervisor to hold responsibility for your clinical work.
If you are considering supervision, do contact me so we can talk about what is involved and whether we might be a good fit.
I offer concessionary places to trainee teachers (e.g., students on Master’s in Mindfulness programmes).
I look forward to working with you!
